College of American Pathologists

CoC Member since 1953

The College of American Pathologists (CAP), the leading organization of board-certified pathologists, serves patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine worldwide.

Founded in 1946 and a Commission on Cancer (CoC) member since 1953, the CAP believes that partnering and communicating with organizations like the CoC is critical for patients to receive high-quality clinical care. The complementary missions of the CoC and the CAP ultimately serve patients through the organizations’ respective domain expertise in cancer patient diagnostics, setting, and accreditation. All patients deserve the best medical attention from diagnosis to treatment; CoC accreditation safeguards that attention and serves as a beacon for clinical practice and care.

The CAP would like to congratulate the CoC on this important milestone in its history and looks forward to further strengthening the bonds between the organizations in caring for cancer patients.
