Accredited since 1932
Hartford, CT
Since 1932 Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health of New England, has been accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a testament to our long-standing commitment to provide high-quality cancer care to patients in the Greater Hartford Area.
Cancer care delivery faces many challenges, and not all cancer centers face the same challenges, which can be driven by factors such as provider expertise and availability, patient population density, and cancer center affiliation and resources.
The goals of the CoC include helping member institutions deliver high-quality cancer care by establishing standards for comprehensive cancer treatment and delivery, assisting in the assessment and compliance with these standards, and encouraging the continued improvement of cancer care delivery that is specific to the institution and the patient population they serve.
CoC accreditation is important to Saint Francis Hospital because it provides our cancer center the structure and support to specifically evaluate how WE can deliver high quality, patient-centered cancer care, how we can address OUR challenges to the delivery of care, and how WE can best support the patients in our community. CoC accreditation does this by providing the framework for institutional and provider commitment, the resources for self-evaluation of quality and patient-centered care, and the expectation to address barriers to cancer care and prevention.
We are grateful to the CoC for their advocacy of the delivery of high-quality cancer care, and for their support in helping our team at Saint Francis Hospital deliver great cancer care to our community.
