University Medical Center (UMC) views continued accreditation as a great mechanism for ensuring excellence in cancer care in New Orleans. The standards set by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) provide the program patient-centered goals that have a meaningful impact on both screening and therapy for cancer.

As the longest continually accredited CoC program in the state of Louisiana, we are proud to continue the legacy of Charity Hospital in caring for those most in need in New Orleans. The academic affiliations of UMC allow our hospital to not only serve as a center of clinical excellence but also the home base for the education and research endeavors of the cancer center of the LSU Health Sciences Center.
