CoC Member since 1976
The National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) is a non-profit membership organization that represents cancer registry professionals and Certified Tumor Registrars (CTR®). Its mission is to empower and advance registry professionals through innovations in education, advocacy, credentialing, and strategic partnerships. As a multidisciplinary profession, membership is open to all individuals involved in cancer registry activities. NCRA is the largest membership association for cancer registry professionals in the world with over 6,000 members. The NCRA was chartered in 1974 and joined the CoC in 1976.
With NCRA serving as the cancer registrar’s voice at meetings with standard setters, national organizations, and federal agencies, NCRA sees the CoC as a vital strategic partner. NCRA values this collaboration to work on joint initiatives impacting our common goals. This collaboration is realized through NCRA’s formal liaison positions with the CoC.
NCRA understands the importance of the CoC Standards in ensuring high-quality data collection which, in turn, equates to improved quality of care. Given this, NCRA hopes that the future policy choices of the CoC will expand support for cancer registrar education and, in general, support the needs of the cancer registry workforce who are so vital to documenting the outcomes of the CoC Standards. With over 2/3 of the NCRA membership estimated to work at CoC accredited institutions partnering and staying aligned with each other’s planned efforts that impact the profession is critical.
